Hanszen O-Week
Congratulations! If you are reading this, then not only have you been accepted into the best university, but you’ve also been placed into THE BEST residential college at Rice University: Hanszen College. Here at Rice, Hanszen is known as the “family college,” and we can’t wait to welcome you into our family on August 12th! You may have a lot of doubts and questions right now, but don’t worry, that’s what Orientation Week (O-Week) is for.
We are your Hanszen O-Week Coordinators, and along with the Rice Administration, we have been preparing for your arrival since January. While the transition from high school to college is both exciting and overwhelming, we have been working all summer to ensure your first week at Rice is not only informative and structured, but also full of opportunities to explore unique aspects of Rice University while mingling with other students.
Our goal as coordinators is to make your introduction into Rice, and to Hanszen College specifically, as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Prepare for an amazing time during O-Week, because we expect you to experience nothing less! In the spirit of 2012, the three of us have selected the theme “Apocalypto Week”— emphasizing the fact that O-Week is a life-changing experience, ending the world as you have known it. College marks an entirely new journey, and O-Week will be the ultimate survival guide in preparing you for all the new challenges you will face.
